Bâillonner Echelon ? Oui, c’est possible…

Echelon se distingue des autres systèmes de renseignement par le fait qu’il présente deux spécificités uniques:
1/ il peut exercer une surveillance quasi totale. Par l’intermédiaire de stations de réception satellitaire et de satellites espions, toute communication d’une personne transportée sur n’importe quel support peut-étre interceptée.

2/ il exerce ses activités à  l’échelle planétaire gràce à  la coopération de plusieurs Etats ce qui constitue un incomparable atout au regard des systèmes nationaux.

Echelon réagit immédiatement lorsqu’il est simplement mis en présence d’un des mots d’une liste, constamment renouvelée et mise à  jour.

Historique
:

En 1948, les Etats-Unis, le Royaume-Uni, le Canada, l’Australie et la Nouvelle-Zélande concluent en secret un pacte de sécurité baptisé « UKUSA ».

L’objectif de ce dernier est de collecter des informations en provenance de l’URSS et de ses alliés, par le biais d’un système d’écoute et d’analyse : le réseau « Echelon ».

Avec la fin de la guerre froide et le développement des technologies de renseignement, notamment dans l’informatique et les satellites, les Américains réorientent en partie cet instrument de surveillance sur leurs concurrents économiques : le Japon et les puissances européennes.

Un réseau d’une centaine de satellites capte les ondes émises par les radios ou les téléphones cellulaires, tandis que les informations transmises par téléphones, fax ou messageries électroniques sont interceptés par des systèmes informatiques. Les données ainsi collectées sont analysées par la National Security Agency.

Certaines entreprises américaines disposent ainsi de données en provenance directe de leurs concurrents, leur conférant un avantage certain dans le développement de certains projets ou la négociation de contrats.

Cette liste de mots qui enclenche Echelon, on peut la connaître mais il est à  parier qu’elle est, à  ce jour, déjà  modifiée.
